The UK is in the process of launching its new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) border requirements. The ETA is a visa waiver that is needed for all those who visit the UK who do not have a visa. Following it being rolled out for most markets in January this year (including the US, Canada and Australia), it will be expanded to European countries next month.
From April 2nd, all European nationals entering the UK, including on a ship, or to board a ship, will need an ETA. Applications for European nationals are now open. They will need to apply for an ETA in advance of boarding their cruise if it has a call at a UK port, even if they do not plan to leave the ship in the UK. ETAs cost £10 per person.
Please note, guests from countries outside Europe are already required to have an ETA and can apply through the same system.
